My favorite way to game plan (inspired by a kickass panda)

Anyone else who loves Kung Fu Panda?

I love watching kung fu movies since I was a kid.

And when I’m being a kid at heart, I often watch anime and cartoons.

One such cartoon that stuck with me is Kung Fu Panda.

I love Po as a character, even though he’s the total opposite of me.

I would be happy to become Po one day. And to learn kung fu.

Because why not? Haha.

(Who knows, I might find myself doing that.)

Anyway, I mentioned Kung Fu Panda because I want to share my favorite quote (and mindset-shifter) from the first movie.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

I used this quote as a framework for today’s newsletter. And it’s not just to inspire you.

It’s also to help you reflect on your game plan for this quarter. :)

What’s past, what’s next, and what I’m currently working on

Past: I launched the e-book version of “Survive and Thrive” (Yay!)

What’s behind the scenes of this e-book journey?

A spur-of-the-moment decision to write the ebook

In celebration of my 5th year milestone since coming to Belgium

It started as a 30-page project, and later grew to 100+ pages.

I was only supposed to compile and repurpose my old blog content.

But I ended up adding new insights based on feedback I’ve received.

I love reading your feedback and thoughts.

It made the creation of the guide more fulfilling.

Favor though? If “Survive and Thrive” resonated with you…

Or if you think it will help others to feel less scared and more prepared to navigate life and work abroad, help me spread the news about the e-book.

Promote or share it within your network!

And feel free to tag me either through Facebook/LinkedIn.

What’s next: Upcoming webinar event/book launch with a fellow coach and expat based in Germany

Join me and Chiara Cokieng (Coach, Brave New Path) as we share insights and stories on navigating career transitions.

Chiara is a fellow expat and IT professional based in Germany.

We got connected around 5 years ago when I asked her for help with my migration requirements.

In our event, we’ll cover:

  • How to land a job in another country

  • What we wish we knew before living and working abroad

This is also a celebration launch for Survive and Thrive. And you’re invited!

So come, and join us on 15 August, 12:30 PM CET via Zoom.

What I’m currently working on: a productivity toolkit with AI, especially made for auditors

Planning season is about to start or is ongoing now. What are you doing differently?

If you can’t instantly answer this question, here are questions to stir some mindset shifts.

  • AI is the coolest sidekick you can have. But it can also be your worst frenemy (if you didn’t know any better). Which camp are you with?

  • What would be possible if you could team up with AI in the most effective way?

Read my latest insights and the results of a little experiment in this article.

PPS. Here’s a reminder for the rest of your week. Honor your past, treasure the present, and have hope for the future!

Tin here! Welcome to Busy Season Journals, a newsletter made especially for you by a fellow accountant/auditor, adventurer, and coach-guide. I write about my adventures as an accountant and auditor and everything in between. You get deeper insights and personal stories on how to shape a happy, meaningful journey.
