The key to a happy busy season is...
To dance your way out of it?
In older conversations I had with some colleagues, I’ve heard one of them said,
“If auditors have something to do outside audit, they wouldn’t be so unhappy.”
At that time, I was lacking experience to either prove or disprove this claim.
After all, I was mostly doing audits.
This newsletter and my content creation journey did not exist yet.
Outside work, during my early years as an auditor in a Big 4 firm, I’ve spent majority of my time catching up on energy lost because of busy seasons.
Now, it’s different.
I have something to look forward to outside work.
I’m building something for myself.
In the process, I’m able to extend my skills, knowledge, and experience to more people, not just within work but even outside of it.
I have an output to show for all of my efforts.
And I’m happier than before too.
So how true is it that when you have something to look forward to outside work, you’ll be happier?
Here’s another proof.
I reconnected with a former colleague/auditor whose journey was both wonderful and inspirational especially for those who possess the same talents as her.
She performed in a national competition within a country that’s not even her home country.
She literally “danced her way through an audit busy season.”
But for her to achieve that milestone, she used enablers like time management and a supportive work environment.
My conversation with her sparked some important and timely insights.
I hope that the insights from her story will also inspire you to adopt this…
Mindset change today:
Your work is not your life.
Your career is not the ultimate goal.
Work/career are just means to fulfilling a happy and meaningful life.
